Gracie’s ‘Soundation’ Project

Class 4B have been investigating creating electronic music and mixing sounds using the online ‘Soundation‘ site. When asked why she liked ‘Soundation’, Gracie told us that she could choose to mix different sounds together on layers, creating a magical overlay of sounds. Relax and listen below…

Gracie’s track was picked as the class winner.

Children’s Mental Health Week 2019

This week is Children’s Mental Health Week and the theme is Healthy Inside and Out to  help us to feel better in ourselves, focus on what we want to do and deal with difficult times.

Being part of BFET we are really  passionate about health and wellbeing for our staff and students.

We know that one in ten young people experience a mental health issue at any one time and many more struggle with challenges from academic pressure, social media, bullying, poverty and bereavement.  It’s clear that giving young people the support they need is a challenge.

Our students are so lucky at BFET that many of our schools including Marton have adopted the Daily Mile. Have you done your Daily Mile every day this week? If not what other activity have you done to meet the guidelines of being active at least 60 mins a day? It really does help you feel better.

Our children and young people spend more time in school than they do anywhere else except their own home. School is one of the best places for both educators and students to become increasingly aware of mental health and mental health problems.  You  can find out more about Children’s Mental Health week by clicking here.

We have also attached some useful resources which hope to address the issues of good mental health in young people:

#Holocaust Memorial Day

28 of our year six pupils attended to remember those affected and were both moved and honoured to attend. They showed exemplary behaviour whilst listening to Werner Conn who was himself evacuated as part of the Kindertransport when he was only 11 years of age. He talked in detail of his experience including never seeing his parents or brother again and discovering they had died in concentration camps.

It was an excellent event has been filmed to appear on the synagogue page and was also advertised on Radio Wave.

3A’s Advent Charity: Brian House

The children in Class 3A were so moved and inspired by the children in Brian House after watching a short video from the Brian House website, that they decided unanimously to adopt Brian House as their Advent charity. As a result of their kindness and generosity from home they filled a hamper full of gifts and sent it with love to Brian House today. The children have demonstrated the real spirit of Christmas.

Many thanks and well done to everyone, from Mrs Blencowe, Mrs Sloane and Class 3A
